What This Page is About - Our Training/Journey to Climb Half Dome

Bruce and I have been married for a little over one year.  Bruce is 42 and I, Jennie,  am 35.  Besides the bed, we share a deep love and respect for nature. We've only been on a few small hikes,  but since our hike to Vernal Falls in Yosemite, we've really been eager to seek out more of what this awsome plant has to offer besides smog, traffic, and disconnected people.  There truly is a sense of peace, love, respect and freedom you get when hiking. The people are friendlier, the air is fresher, and everything inside of you goes silent. Each hike confronts us with something new...and we just keep wanting more.

Bruce and I have set a goal to climb half dome on 7/7/2009. This has been an obsessive goal of mine for the past couple of months.  I really want to experience the awsomeness that so many others have experienced once they've reached the top.  However, we are HARDLY ready for this hike.  Being state workers and sitting on our butts all day - we just don't have the stamina for this type of hike.

So...we will begin a training program to prepare us for our goal. This journey we've called, "Our Journey Toward Heaven" becuase of the strong desire to increase our spiritual awareness, health, experiences, knowledge and well -- you're climbing up toward heaven if you're doing the half dome hike.

We plan to do 1-2 hikes per week - gradually increasing the weight in our packs, elevation, and distance.  On the Our Hikes page, you can view what hikes we're doing on our trip and view a slideshow of that hike.

Wish us luck and check back with us to see the video of our trip to half dome.

Motivational Quotes

John Muir John Muir

"Everybody needs beauty as well as bread, places to play in and pray in, where nature may heal and give strength to body and soul alike."

“Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature's peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves.”
